Woke up at 5am and couldn't sleep for an hour :( My hours are so messed up.
Woke up again at around 12:30 and then we all went down to get into coach buses that drove us around. We passed Chinatown and Kensington Shopping area. We also saw buildings that looked like buildings before the Great Fire of 1666, which were mostly made of glass and black... wood and plaster?
Afterwards we stopped at the Albert memorial and went to take a look at the BBC promenade poster since they're only holding that in London until the 11th. The Albert statue is gold but it had to be dulled down because the glint from the sun would have attracted German bombers back in the day.
Then, we went to Buckingham Palace. It was really crowded and I was kind of sad because the gates were closed and we couldn't get close to the guards with their fuzzy hats and stoic postures. :( I'm going to have to go back and revisit that place again. Across the Buckingham Palace was a memorial for Queen Victoria.
We then saw St. Paul's Cathedral and crossed the Thames River. Walked for a while and saw the Shakespeare's Globe Theater. Then we crossed the Tower Bridge (Not sure what it's really called) and saw the Fortress that William the Conqueror built up to block the Romans (I think.. not really sure.) And we saw what little bit of the roman wall was left.
At the entrance and exits of the City of London, there are small statues of dragons that represent that people should behave before entering because it was a city of laws and rules.
We also passed by the building where they filmed Gringotts for the Harry Potter movies, but I'm not really sure which building he was pointing at, so boo. :(
Took a nap when I got home because I was so tired and then we all went to some social that NYU held for us. It was lame, we had to wait for a long time for one (plastic) bottle of beer and 5 pounds worth of food. :[ But it was an okay night overall. The event was just lame, haha.
That is about all I can remember at the moment. Will post up pics soon when I'm not feeling as lazy.
